How can you tell if my ugg boots are genuine?

I recently ordered a pair from Australia, but the tag on the heel is slightly differant to the ones sold over here.

If you click this link, you will find many guides written by helpful people on eBay about how to spot a fake Ugg boot:

The main giveaways are (unfortunately for you):
- the heel pattern and the 'Ugg' branding on the sole (the photos on the eBay guides will show you what to look for);
- the label on the heel (usually stitched too high up on the fakes);
- the fur (real Uggs have very thick, matte fur - genuine sheepskin - whereas fake Uggs use fake fur which tends to be thinner and shiny);
- the inside label (anything that says 'Made in Australia' or 'Made in New Zealand' will be fake because Uggs haven't been made over there for years now. Real Uggs are made in China, believe it or not!);
- any labels that were attached or pinned to the Uggs when you bought them (real Uggs do not have ANY labels attached to them, and if there's any label mentioning 'CGM & Co.' then they're definitely fake);
- any 'extras' received with them (fake Uggs often come with a dustbag saying 'Snow Boots' on it, or white inserts inside with the 'Ugg' branding on. Genuine Uggs by Deckers never come with anything like that).

If you paid a low price then I wouldn't worry too much if yours turn out to be fake. The real worry is if you paid full price, or something close to full price. If you strongly suspect they are fakes and want your money back, contact the shop or seller and provide all your evidence - so they can tell that you know exactly what you're talking about and have done your research - and they will probably refund you without any problems in exchange for your silence.

Otherwise, e-mail Ugg Australia at sales@amg-group.co.uk and explain that you purchased some fake Uggs and tell them exactly where you bought them. They're very helpful and can sometimes help to get your money back. They take this very seriously as fake Uggs cost them a fortune in lost business.

However, bear in mind that the term 'Ugg boot' is a generic term to describe this style of boot. You can only report them as fakes if they have been specifically manufactured to mimic the Ugg Australia boots.

If you put Ugg Boots into Ebay - there is normally a link at the side of the page that people have posted on how to spot fake Ugg boots. To be honest I have a pair of 'fakes' and paid £40 for them, although they are not Ugg they are excellent quality and better than some of the store brands at the same or higher price - plus it says Ugg on them so nobody knows the difference and I am £130 better off!!

If you ordered from Australia, they are most likely fake. The company that makes the real Ugg Australia boots is in California.
