Casual Coffee Date

At about week 7 of this third pregnancy I developed a strong coffee aversion. Like, the thought of drinking it was instantly nauseating. I gave it up practically cold turkey. That coupled with complete and utter exhaustion for those first several weeks meant I was a zombie. I had never been that tired in my LIFE.

Now that I’m into my second trimester, I’ve added iced coffee drinks into my routine in the morning. Hot coffee still sounds repulsive, but since the temperatures have turned colder I’ve ventured into Chai tea and lattes. Justin almost never drinks coffee but when he’s sick he likes to get a “no water chai” from Starbucks. I tried a sip of his recently and was pleasantly surprised that it tasted good!

We dropped the kids off at school the other day and the popped down to a local coffee shop so I could pick up a chai latte for myself. This place has the best chai, much better than Starbucks in my opinion!

We didn’t stay too long, but it was nice to have a little time together that morning after dropping off the kids but before we both secluded ourselves in our home offices!

On a completely separate note, I’m in an “in-between” stage with my purse right now. I rarely carry a full diaper bag around, though it’s always in the car if I’m out with the boys. The most I need on me, in terms of what the boys may need, are wipes, tissues and a diaper for Luke. I have a pretty good amount of small to medium size crossbody bags but I needed something a little bit larger that didn’t feel like a big tote that was heavy to lug around.

My sister mentioned this bag to me and I was immediately smitten. I’ve loved my Madewell Transport Crossbody for months and months (and it only gets better with age) so I knew this would be a perfect alternative. I ordered it online at Nordstrom because their shipping is so fast!

As it turns out, it is the BEST size. It feels like a purse, gives me room for extra things if I need it, but isn’t too large to carry. I love the large outer pocket too. I usually slip my phone into it whenever I carry it into a store.

I’ve also been living in these Sam Edelman Penny boots since the day I picked them up. I found them to run narrow in the foot so I ended up ordering “wide,” which I never have to do – just keep that in mind if you order these! I used the Buy Online Pick Up In Store feature that Nordstrom offers on their website. I do almost all my shopping online these days, so being able to browse the site in the comfort of my robe and slippers, and then just pick up the items when they are ready is so convenient.

My sweatshirt is also from Nordstrom and is not maternity. It’s lightweight and has a slight boat neck collar. It’s one of those things that I can re-wear a few times before I need to wash it, so I basically live in this thing! I love that the tie makes it feel slightly more put together than just a simple sweatshirt.

I can’t wrap up this post without tell you about the amazing suede jacket I got from Nordstrom as well. I wore it here and received so many questions about it! It’s the PERFECT jacket to wear over dresses, a basic tee, or a silky camisole. Basically, anytime you think you want to grab a cardigan for an extra layer of warmth over your outfit, think of this jacket instead. I included it, as well as similar options, in the “Shop the Post” graphic below! Just click on the picture!

Holiday Gift Guide for Anyone

one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight

Justin and I both enjoy gadgets and electronics so as I was thinking of “universal” gifts that a lot of people may enjoy, I kept coming back to helpful electronics or things we really love.

The vacuum was a recent purchase but MAN WAS IT A GOOD ONE. I love this vacuum so much. It would be a very hefty gift for someone but they would love you forever for it. It’s cordless, the suction is incredible (really, it is) and I’m going to stop writing a vacuum review now and get back to the other gifts.

The UE Boom was a gift from Justin to me last year on my birthday. We use this almost every single day to play music from.

I love this little iPhone printer and, of course, my mobile label machine.

These may be items that would be fun to have but you wouldn’t think to buy for yourself, which makes them perfect gifts!

Happy Shopping!

Holiday Gift Ideas for Little Kids

one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten

Most of these are tried and true by my boys! It’s hard to think of gifts for kids, so I hope this helps you in your search for gifts this holiday season.

The ice cream toy by Melissa and Doug has probably been the toy that has played with toy for the last year. They also love their scooters and the Amazon Fire Tablets. We used to let David use my iPad for videos but I love the control and settings that the Amazon Fire Tablet has for my boys. You can set an age limit so they can only download age appropriate games or videos. You can also set time limits and then the tablet will lock after the time limit has been met. Basically, its great.

We tried really hard to think of non-toy ideas for the kids this year and saw Paw Patrol is coming to the DPAC in June. My sister got tickets for them so they’ll have that to look forward to! In general, we suggested books and games for the kids too!

Happy Shopping! Hope you get some great deals!
